Darrell Steinberg has been with us from the beginning of his public service career.

We never really needed to lobby or persuade him because he came to public office understanding that this country has a history of denying equal rights at one time or another and has worked tirelessly on behalf of people whose aspirations, hopes and dreams were being frustrated by bigotry, ignorance and discrimination.

Early in his career, when he heard that beloved partners of patients fighting HIV/AIDS were not being permitted to visit their loved ones in hospitals, he didn’t just support efforts to provide access and rights for domestic partners, he became a champion. He knew we loved one another just like anyone else does and refused to quietly accept an unequal system that denied us the right to marry the ones we love.

We are supporting Darrell Steinberg for Mayor because he has been a champion and shown that he cares, respects and intends to include us in the broader community of people who want to help him make our beloved City an even greater place in which to live and prosper.
